Effective Date: April 25th 2026 Last Updated: April 29th 2026
This Privacy Policy explains how StoreCan Inc (“StoreCan,” “we,” “us,” or “our“) collects, uses, discloses, and protects personal information about visitors and customers in the United States who use our website storecan.com (the “Site“) or who otherwise interact with us in connection with our shipping container, modification, leasing, delivery, and accessory products and services.
This Privacy Policy applies to personal information processed in the course of our US business. If you are located in Canada, the Canadian Privacy Notice governs the processing of your personal information by StoreCan’s Canadian operations.
This Privacy Policy is incorporated into and supplements the StoreCan Inc Terms of Service, which contains additional terms governing your use of the Site, our SMS program, and our products and services.
1. Information We Collect
We collect personal information directly from you, automatically through your use of the Site, and from third-party sources. The categories below correspond to the categories used under the California Consumer Privacy Act, as amended by the CPRA (“CCPA“).
1.1 Information you provide directly
- Identifiers and contact information: name, postal address (delivery and billing), email address, phone number, account username and password.

- Site readiness and delivery information: delivery address, photos of delivery sites, site descriptions you provide, and any access notes (e.g., gate codes, contact persons, delivery instructions).
- Business information (B2B): company name, EIN/tax ID, resale or exemption certificates, authorized signatory, accounts-payable contact.
- Communications: the content of emails, text messages, voice calls, web-form submissions, chat sessions, reviews, and any other communications you send to us.
- Marketing preferences: SMS, email, and call opt-ins, frequency preferences, unsubscribe requests.
1.2 Information collected automatically
- Device and browser data: IP address, device identifiers, browser type and version, operating system, language, time zone, referring URLs.
- Usage data: pages viewed, links clicked, time spent on pages, search queries on the Site, products viewed, items added to cart, scroll depth, and similar interactions.

- Location data: approximate geographic location derived from IP address; precise geolocation only if you provide it (e.g., to find the nearest container yard).
1.3 Information from third parties
- Service providers and partners: payment processors, shipping/delivery carriers, SMS service providers, email-marketing platforms, analytics providers, fraud-prevention vendors, and CRM platforms.
- Marketing and lead-generation partners: if you submitted information to a third-party site or marketplace that referred you to StoreCan.

- Co-branded or affiliated parties: including our Canadian parent company, where you have a relationship with both entities.
1.4 Sensitive Personal Information
Under the CCPA and several other state privacy laws, certain information is treated as “sensitive.” StoreCan generally does not seek or collect Sensitive Personal Information. We do not collect Social Security numbers, government identifiers, precise geolocation, racial or ethnic origin, religious or philosophical beliefs, union membership, mail/email/text contents (other than messages directly with us), genetic data, biometric data, health information, or sex-life or sexual-orientation information for purposes other than as required by law or to provide a service you specifically request (e.g., financing or credit-application processing, where applicable).
1.5 Information about children
The Site is intended for adults. We do not knowingly collect personal information from individuals under the age of 18. If you believe we have collected information from a child, contact [email protected] and we will promptly delete it.
2. How We Use Personal Information
We use personal information for the following business and commercial purposes:
- Provide products and services: process orders and quotes, schedule and complete deliveries, fulfill modifications, manage leases, administer accounts, process payments and refunds, and provide warranty service.
- Customer service and communications: respond to inquiries, send transactional notifications (order confirmations, delivery updates, payment reminders, warranty notices), and handle complaints.
- Marketing and promotions: send marketing emails and SMS to those who have opted in, personalize the Site experience, and present relevant products. You can opt out of marketing at any time (see Section 6).
- Site operation, analytics, and improvement: measure Site performance, debug errors, conduct A/B testing, develop new features, and understand customer interests.
- Security and fraud prevention: detect, investigate, and prevent fraud, unauthorized access, abuse, and other harmful activities; verify identity for credit applications and large orders.
- Legal and compliance: comply with applicable laws (including tax, export-control, and consumer-protection laws), respond to subpoenas and lawful requests, enforce our Terms of Service, and protect our rights and the rights of others.
- Business transactions: evaluate and complete corporate transactions such as mergers, acquisitions, financings, or asset sales, subject to confidentiality.
- Aggregated / de-identified data: create aggregated, anonymized, or de-identified data for any lawful purpose; we will not attempt to re-identify such data and will require recipients to do the same.
We will not use Sensitive Personal Information for any purpose other than those identified in CCPA Regulation § 7027(m) (i.e., to provide the services you request, prevent and detect security incidents, resist malicious or fraudulent activity, ensure quality and safety, perform services on our behalf, and verify or maintain quality of the service) without first providing notice and the right to limit such use.
3. How We Share Personal Information
We share personal information only as described in this Section 3.
3.1 Service providers
We share personal information with vendors who perform services on our behalf and only for those services, under written contracts that restrict their use of the information. Categories include:
- Payment processors and merchant-services providers
- Hosting, cloud-storage, and infrastructure providers
- Email-marketing platforms (e.g., for newsletters and order receipts)
- SMS service providers and SMS messaging infrastructure providers
- Analytics providers (e.g., Google Analytics, Microsoft Clarity, or similar)
- Customer-relationship management (CRM) and customer-support platforms
- Shipping, freight, and delivery carriers
- Fraud-prevention and identity-verification providers
- Professional advisors (lawyers, accountants, auditors, insurers)
- Modification and yard-services subcontractors when assigned to your Order
3.2 Affiliates
We share personal information with our corporate affiliates, including our Canadian parent company StoreCan Corp, for consistent customer service, group-level operations, fraud prevention, and lawful corporate purposes. Cross-border transfers of personal information from the US to Canada are made under contractual safeguards consistent with applicable law.
3.3 Business transfers
If we are involved in a merger, acquisition, financing, reorganization, bankruptcy, or sale of all or part of our business or assets, personal information may be transferred to or accessed by the other party as part of that transaction, subject to standard confidentiality and continued application of this Privacy Policy or a successor policy.
3.4 Legal obligations and protection of rights
We may disclose personal information when required to comply with applicable law, court orders, subpoenas, or government requests; to enforce our Terms of Service; to protect the rights, property, or safety of StoreCan, our customers, employees, or others; or to investigate fraud or wrongdoing.
3.5 With your consent
We may disclose personal information for any other purpose with your consent or at your direction.
3.6 No sale of personal information
StoreCan does not sell your personal information for money. Some online advertising and analytics activities may be considered “sharing” or a “sale” of personal information under broad definitions in California and certain other state laws (e.g., when cookies on the Site allow third parties to receive identifiers for cross-context behavioral advertising). You have the right to opt out of these activities — see Section 7 (Your Privacy Rights) and our Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information page.
4. Cookies, Pixels, and Tracking Technologies
We and our service providers use cookies, pixels, web beacons, SDKs, and similar technologies on the Site to operate and secure the Site, analyze usage, remember your preferences, and (where applicable) deliver advertising.
The categories typically used:
- Strictly necessary cookies — required for the Site to function (login sessions, cart contents, fraud prevention). These cannot be turned off through the cookie banner.
- Analytics / performance cookies — measure how visitors use the Site (e.g., Google Analytics).
- Functionality cookies — remember preferences such as language or region.
- Advertising / targeting cookies — used by us and our advertising partners to deliver relevant ads on third-party sites and measure their effectiveness (e.g., Meta Pixel, Google Ads remarketing).
Cookie controls. You can manage cookies through the cookie-preferences link in the Site footer, your browser settings, and applicable industry opt-out tools (such as the Network Advertising Initiative, the Digital Advertising Alliance, and YourAdChoices). On a mobile device, you can use platform-level controls (Limit Ad Tracking on iOS, “Opt out of Ads Personalization” on Android).
Global Privacy Control. We honor browser-based opt-out preference signals, including the Global Privacy Control (GPC), as a valid opt-out of “sale” and “sharing” for purposes of California and other state privacy laws that recognize such signals.
Do Not Track. Because there is no industry standard for “Do Not Track” browser signals, the Site does not respond to “Do Not Track” headers, but it does honor GPC as described above.
5. Mobile Information and SMS Messaging
This Section 5 supplements the SMS Program terms in Section 23 of our Terms of Service and is provided to satisfy the disclosure requirements of The Campaign Registry (TCR), the major US wireless carriers (T-Mobile, AT&T, Verizon and their MVNOs), and applicable mobile messaging best practices.
5.1 What we collect
Through our SMS program we collect: your mobile phone number, your opt-in status and the source/method of opt-in, the timestamp and IP address of your opt-in, message content you exchange with us, message-delivery metadata (carrier, timestamps, delivery status), and your opt-out status if you unsubscribe.
5.2 How we use it
We use mobile information solely to (i) deliver the SMS messages you have opted in to receive (transactional updates, delivery and order notifications, customer-support replies, and — only with separate marketing consent — promotional messages), (ii) operate, secure, and improve the SMS program, (iii) honor your opt-out request and maintain a do-not-text list, and (iv) comply with carrier and regulatory requirements (including TCPA and TCR/CTIA program rules).
5.3 No sharing of mobile information with third parties or affiliates for marketing
StoreCan will not sell, rent, lease, share, or otherwise transfer your mobile phone number, your SMS opt-in status, or the contents of any text message you exchange with us to any third party or affiliate for the purpose of marketing, advertising, or promotion.
We share mobile information only with our SMS service providers and the relevant wireless carriers strictly to operate and deliver the SMS program, and only under written contracts requiring those parties to protect the information and use it only for that purpose. This restriction is in addition to, and does not limit, the other protections in this Privacy Policy.
5.4 Opt-in and opt-out
Consent to receive marketing SMS is not a condition of any purchase. You can opt out at any time by replying STOP, CANCEL, END, QUIT, or UNSUBSCRIBE to any StoreCan text message, and you can request help by replying HELP or contacting [email protected].
5.5 Carriers and rates
Supported US carriers include AT&T, T-Mobile, Verizon Wireless, US Cellular, and most other major US carriers and their MVNOs. Message and data rates may apply. Carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages.
6. Marketing Communications and Choices
- Email. You may unsubscribe from marketing email at any time using the unsubscribe link in any marketing email or by contacting [email protected]. Transactional and service emails (order receipts, delivery notices, account communications) are not considered marketing and may continue regardless of marketing opt-out.
- SMS. See Section 5 above.
- Phone. If you receive marketing calls and wish to stop, ask the caller to add you to our internal Do-Not-Call list.
- Targeted advertising. Use the cookie-preferences link in the Site footer, the industry tools listed in Section 4, or transmit a Global Privacy Control signal from your browser.
7. Your Privacy Rights
Depending on the US state where you reside, you may have one or more of the rights described below. We will not discriminate against you for exercising any of these rights.
7.1 Rights available to all US residents (where provided by state law)

- Right to non-discrimination: we will not deny you goods or services, charge different prices, or provide a different level or quality of service because you exercised your privacy rights.
- Right to appeal: in states that provide it (Virginia, Colorado, Connecticut, and others), you may appeal a denial of your privacy request by contacting us at [email protected] with the subject “Privacy Appeal.”
7.2 California-specific rights (CCPA / CPRA)

- Categories of personal information collected, sold, or shared in the prior 12 months: see Section 1 (collection) and Section 3 (sharing). We have not sold personal information for monetary value in the preceding 12 months. We may have “shared” personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising as defined under California law (e.g., via advertising cookies); the categories are: identifiers, internet/network activity, and inferences. You may opt out via contacting us at [email protected].
- Sources of personal information: see Section 1.
- Purposes: see Section 2.

You may use an authorized agent to submit a request on your behalf, with appropriate proof of authorization and identity verification.
8. Data Security
We implement administrative, technical, and physical safeguards designed to protect personal information against accidental or unlawful destruction, loss, alteration, unauthorized disclosure, and unauthorized access. No method of transmission over the internet or electronic storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
If we become aware of a security incident affecting your personal information, we will notify you and the appropriate authorities as required by applicable law.
9. Data Retention
We retain personal information only as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes described in this Privacy Policy, including to:
- maintain your account and provide ongoing services for as long as you remain a customer;
- complete pending Orders, leases, and warranty claims;
- comply with legal, tax, accounting, audit, and regulatory obligations (typically 7 years for sales and tax records);
- resolve disputes, enforce our Terms of Service, and protect our rights;
- maintain SMS opt-in/opt-out records as required by TCPA, TCR, and carrier requirements (typically a minimum of 4 years).
When personal information is no longer needed, we will delete or de-identify it.
10. Third-Party Sites and Services
The Site may contain links to third-party websites, services, plug-ins, or content (e.g., social-media buttons, payment processors, financing partners). Those third parties operate under their own privacy policies, and we are not responsible for their practices. Review their policies before providing personal information to them.
11. International Data Transfers
StoreCan operates in both the United States and Canada. Personal information collected in the US may be transferred to, accessed by, or processed in Canada by our affiliates and service providers, and personal information collected in Canada may be transferred to the US. Such transfers are made under contractual safeguards consistent with applicable law.
